Casa Morandi, in collaboration with MAMbo - Museum of Modern Art of Bologna and the Morandi Museum of the Civic Museums Sector of Bologna, presents the exhibition The Morandi Affair by Vittoria Chierici and curated by Maura Pozzati, open from 19 October 2024 as of January 6, 2025. The exhibition of Vittoria Chierici's works at Casa Morandi represents the second phase of a larger choral project that began on June 4 and 5 at the MAMbo Education Department with a workshop addressed to the students of the two-year course in Painting Visual Arts and Art Teaching and Mediation of Artistic Heritage of the Course in History and Methodology of Art Criticism held by Professor Maura Pozzati of the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. The workshop was led by Vittoria Chierici, artist and creator of the project, assisted by the curator of the initiative, Maura Pozzati.
The artist guided the students present on a journey to discover the working method used by Giorgio Morandi to create his canvases. The novelty of this project, in fact, is not in the reflection on Morandi's still lifes from a formal point of view but rather on his way of painting them. The approach adopted is therefore technical and conceptual and testifies that the universe in which Morandi worked was built around painting. A tribute, therefore, not only to Morandi but to painting itself: for Vittoria Chierici, a contemporary artist who has already confronted the art of the masters of the past, from Leonardo, Raphael, Paolo Uccello to Boccioni, Picasso and Warhol, confronting the great Bolognese artist meant working more on his method than on the form, in order to be able to tell the public about him as if he were a sort of "workshop" of painting.
